Revolutionary War

"For the first time in all my years of teaching, my students actually cheered when it was time to teach social studies. Students who normally struggled academically flourished with this museum project. It was a teaching and learning experience that I will never forget!"— Lead Teacher, Christina Garley

Maple Avenue 5th grade students
in Sussex, WI, created a seven-exhibit museum about the American Revolution organized around the following focus questions:
  • What set the stage for the American Revolution?
  • "Taxation without representation" - how did it increase conflict?
  • Did all colonists have the same view of Britain’s role?
  • How did the war begin?
  • What were the important battles of the American Revolution?
  • How did people's lives change after the American Revolution?
  • How was our government formed?
